Did you notice how quickly you just looked through those pictures? That’s how quick our time with Evelyn has been. It really seems like she was just born.
Today she started Kindergarten. I’ve been dreading this day (unbeknownst to her), and she’s been eagerly looking forward to this day. I’ve cried when she’s not around, and acted excited when she is around.
This morning, Brad woke her up a little earlier than usual. He’s been promising her he’d do that when she starts Kindergarten, so they can have time to read the Bible and pray and sing together. That was a sweet time, even though she wasn’t feeling well from a yucky cold, and I’m glad I got to join them for that.
She was excited as she got dressed, and we left as a family to take her to school.
Her heart was fluttering with excitement, as she walked towards the school.
We all went into the gym to wait for the teachers to call their students.
Evie said “good-bye” to everyone….
Then her teacher called her name, and she joined her class and walked away with them….
{If anyone can tell me if it’s possible to make that last picture un-blurried, I’d be ever-so-grateful! }
And my heart is breaking.
And my tears are coming down.
How can she be going to school? Should I be so upset about this???
One of my main consolations was that I knew she would enjoy it. But when I picked her up after school, and she started crying and saying that it was an awful day and she didn’t want to go back tomorrow, that just about did me in.
So I’m in a difficult place now, and so is she. Right now she doesn’t know there’s any other option besides staying at that school. We’re going to wait a bit longer, and see how things go. But if they don’t improve, I’m going to need some input from those of you that home-school!
Any of you parents who have been through this before, please feel free to share your advice and wisdom with me!!!
Goodnight for now.

not sure this will work, but you could try Picasa (free software, search on google) to unblur the picture. They have a setting on one of their pages to unblur pictures. It is successful only half the time. Not much to lose though.
Oh Jenny, I am so sorry the first day was rough. I have NO IDEA what the right answer is for you, but I will be right where you are in one year. ONE YEAR!
Jenny,
I suspect that she merely had a hard day of adjustment and that she'll be fine. She's such a sweet girl that will make friends and smooth things out.
If you do entertain "other options" such as homeschooling, I want to encourage you that CAN do it if you want to. I hear so many parents say "I could never homeschool" and I always think they're wrong. I'm not saying you have to do it or should do it, but if you think it's the right thing to do and want to do it you CAN. :-)

in reply...we check some movies out of our library. This library has a somewhat meager selection so we joined netflix. Now we watch some movies instantly on our computer and wait for others to come in the mail. It is relatively cheap entertainment as we don't have cable and really don't watch regular TV.
Points are predictable like making your bed and taking out the trash. Doing something with a good attitude and without me asking usually gets more points. So I guess it is also depends on the situation.
And I'm so sorry about little E. I did the same thing at one of my schools. I went to three different elementary schools and the last one I cried everyday when I came home. I think it would have passed, but at that point my mom decided to homeschool me. I have never regretted that decision.
In Kzoo, they had a very liberal agenda in the elementary schools with gay textbook examples. I guess because of that I started homeschooling Alex. It has been rewarding for us, but I don't think it is the only choice. I would be happy to answer questions and share ideas if you decide to pursue it.
Sorry she had such a rough first day. :( Did she say why it upset her? I'd give it a few more days and continue staying positive for her. Let us know how things turn out! Love & miss ya!
